Young Musicians

Dunblane Cathedral Arts Guild is keen to encourage young musicians to participate in performing and also become enthusiastic and discerning members of audiences. To these ends we have offered, over the years, family concerts and puppet shows, and hosted workshops, some of these in local schools with the assistance of Chamber Music Scotland. We also run an annual Open Platform for local young musicians to perform in a non-competitive and informal setting. Starting out as a concert, the Open Platform has more recently transformed itself into a musical Fairtrade Afternoon Tea, so the informality of the occasion is even greater. We welcome local young musicians between the ages of 9 and 18 to bring a piece to play, of minimum Grade 1 standard; an accompanist is provided, if desired.

In addition, we are delighted to see children of any age at all our concerts. As many of these are in the afternoon, the times are accessible for children. The Arts Guild is keen to encourage concert-going for all age groups and help establish audiences for the future.
